About Nidiffer Gem Ladoratory
American Gemlab (AGL) is owned and operated by Ms. Laurie Nidiffer. Established in 1986, American Gemlab was soon recognized as the preferred gemological services company in the Midwestern United States. Ms. Nidiffer’s attention to detail and uncompromising ethics have earned AGL a distinctive place in the gem and jewelry industry.
Laurie’s first experience in fine jewelry was from 1980 to 1984 with Massoud’s Fine Jewelry in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She learned and executed the fundamentals of jewelry design and manufacturing by starting off in sales, and eventually being promoted to resident custom jewelry designer and model maker.
To pursue and expand her interest in the jewelry industry, Laurie decided to continue her experience and broaden her perspective by enrolling in the prestigious Graduate Gemologist Program at The Gemological institute of America. She received her Graduate Gemologist degree in Residence from GIA’s New York campus in 1985.
Upon returning to Tulsa, Laurie established American Gemlab and began offering full gemological services including; Insurance Appraisal, Estate Appraisal, Collateral Appraisal, Gem Identification, and Diamond Certification. Clients of Nidiffer Gem laboratory run the spectrum from high-end custom jewelry stores to nationally recognized companies such as; Zales Jewelers, Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelers, and Sak’s Fifth Avenue.
For the next ten years, Laurie continued to grow American Gemlab and be active within the industry. She consulted and partnered in opening an independent jewelry store located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and even had time to do some teaching. In the Fall of 1995, Laurie was appointed head instructor of The Gemological program at Oklahoma State University.
Most recently, Laurie has diversified her business interests to include Estate Jewelry Brokerage and Liquidation Services.
Laurie remains very involved in the day-to-day operations of American Gemlab, and her personal attention is given to every AGL client. She keeps current with the jewelry industry and is a member in good standing with The Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT), The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC), and The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Alumni Association. Nidiffer Gem laboratory is also insured by Jewelers Mutual, the largest insurer of Jewelry in the United States.
